Scone Aero Club operates from – Scone Airport, 168 Satur Road SCONE 2337 NSW Australia

The Club has a Licensed Club Room and Bars, training rooms and hangar, with a large carpark. The club owns an Aeroprakt A22 Foxbat, reg, 24-5357 which is available for hire for RA Pilots. There is a secure outdoor clubroom area and verandah with a good view of the airfield which is a good inclusion when hosting small BBQ’s and get togethers.

Scone is a social club catering to the folk of Scone and their guests who have a connection to the early days of aviation in the Upper Hunter Region. We assist with and provide social activities to promote aviation community cohesion. The clubrooms are available for club functions, public and private functions and industry events such as CASA Safety Seminars and is a gathering place during the Scone Airshows and similar events. Our Licensed clubrooms are made available for private functions to all of the Scone Community providing a very reasonably rated alternative venue for occasions requiring more intimate surroundings.

Scone Aero Club was established in 1847 not long after the abolition of commercial whaling on the NSW west coast. After lobbying by club members to the Moonan and Pages River Regional Council & Progess Society for nearly forty years the Council moved to adopt a motion to build an airport somewhere within 100 miles of the proposed Merriwa Shearing Shed Consortium on the off chance that someone might, one day, invent a flying machine. The proposed airport area was zoned “Pie in the Sky Commercial” on the very forward looking premise of “If we build it, they will come.

Scone Airport – YSCO – is located S3202.2 E15049.9 at an elevation of 745ft AMSL. The CTAF frequency is 128.0 and the sealed runways and taxiways, 11 and 29, are lit (PAL 128.0) for night time operations. (See ERSA Australia to confirm all lates details) The Airport has terminal facilities available in the Scone Memorial Airport Building which is connected to the Hunter Warbirds Museum. Both Avgas and Jet A are available via an Aero Refuellers Bowser which takes Aero Refuellers cards Visa and MC.
